Until now, the success story from Bloodwork is
short but powerful. The quintet started in August
2006 and recorded a first demo which was promptly
chosen demo of the month by German Metal Hammer.
Since the beginning of 2007 they have a coherent
line-up. The winning of the WOA battle made them
play as unsigned band before huge crowds in 2008
at Wacken Open Air and Summer Breeze. I could see
it with my very eyes (at Summer Breeze) that this
vigorous quintet appears to be a stunner in its
kind.
Now Bloodwork releases the debut The Final End
Principle on Dockyard1. The band from Paderborn
plays an intense blend of death, thrash and
hardcore, but fortunately they also infiltrate
lashings of melodies in their compact
compositions. The latter one is due to the
melodious guitar skills of Nikko and Robert which
verge to classical heavy metal. Vocals are
scream-like, but they are in every song
intertwined with clean vocal lines. Indeed, next
to upper whistling-buoy David, guitarist Nikko
puts in a vocal contribution as well. What
Bloodwork does is not new or innovative, yet it
has something remarkable. I cannot give the proper
definition of what it is, but the right
combination of having the talent to write fetching
songs and performing with endless energy comes
close. Those who can sit still and remain
imperturbable by tracks like the slowly developing
Graveheart or the infectious Silent Revolution
(massive Soilwork influences) does not have a clue
what its about here. I know, there are many bands
making a bid for recognition in this genre, but
Bloodwork shows a fine balance between straight
brutality and melodious finesse, thats why I
embrace them as seminal newcomers. Moshpits do not
lie!
