Beatdown Hardcore started in New York and New Jerseys in the early/mid 90's. It's not all breakdowns like most people think, but their are a lot of breakdowns in the music. The Beatdown style had a bit more of a "hip hop" rhythm than a lot of the breakdowns played now which are just open notes played over at off speeds. The first Beatdown bands were Bulldoze, 25 ta Life's first two cd's, and others. Over time Beatdown bands were know to add little touches of metal. Most bands today that call themselves aren't beatdown, they're "mosh" shit, like Bury Your Dead. I saw you had Taste the Steel on your list, they are a very metallic beatdwon band. Some real Beatdown bands right now are Betrayed by All (from Boston) and Dominate (from Japan), both are on our top freinds list. A lot of bands from Japan are doing good beatdown hardcore, just search around their myspaces.
