Originally, Ultra Blue was called Mission Instigator. The line-up was a bit different. Mike Aliotti was on drums, Ben Tulin was on Guitar, and Jon, Sam and Brooks were and still are in the band. Later, Mike moved away to Oregon, and in his place came Tony Perolio. With the new drummer, they changed their name to Ultra Blue. The name seemed fitting since blue was the favorite color of everyone in the band and "ultra" sounded cool; hence the name ULTRA BLUE. But who cares about that anyway? The name doesn't make the band. Eventually, Tony joined the Marines and shipped off to California. Mike Aliotti moved back and lived with Brooks for 6 months and played in the band once again. Ultra Blue recorded 5 songs with Mike which ended up on Watercolor. After Mike returned home, Tony's best friend Louis joined the band. Louis' style meshed perfectly with the band's, so he stayed. Ultra Blue wrote 5 new songs and recorded the second half of watercolor. The songs that Mike contributed to were Two Stars, Butterfly, Clear, Solid Eyes, and Yung-C. The rest were with Louis.
